Cambodia-China Industrial and Technological Corridor Poised to Propel Economic Growth

PHNOM PENH, April 26, 2024 — The Industrial and Technological Corridor, a key component of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Cooperation and the Diamond Cooperation between Cambodia and China, is expected to become a catalyst for Cambodia’s economic advancement towards its Vision 2050 goal of becoming a high-income country.

This outlook was shared during discussions held on April 24 at the headquarters of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC). The meeting featured Suon Sophal, Deputy Secretary General of the Cambodian Investment Board of the CDC, and a delegation from China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), led by Zhang Jianhua, Deputy Director General in charge of the Department of Foreign Capital and Overseas Investment.

The discussions focused on a cooperative plan for the development of the Industrial and Technological Corridor, which aims to bolster the ongoing prosperity of the Cambodia-China Community of Common Destiny. Both parties agreed to integrate this initiative with Cambodia’s Pentagonal Strategy and China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), along with other critical national policy frameworks, to maximize its effectiveness and socio-economic benefits for both nations.
